Writing Surfaces

Formica® white laminate in a Gloss surface finish provides an ideal writing surface for use with dry-marker pens and for felt-tipped pens with water soluble ink. With the former, the marks can usually be removed with a dry cloth; use a damp cloth for water-soluble felt-tip markers.

Formica Blackboard (F1976) is a special Metallic Laminate with a mild steel sheet incorporated under the décor surface paper, having a dull matt finsh. This laminate item is an ideal writing surface for use with dry marker pens, chalk, and water-soluble felt tip markers, with the added bonus of having magnetic properties.

Dark coloured Velour finish laminates also make very good chalk boards.

Matt and textured surfaces are not recommended for use with marker pens because of possible ‘ghosting’, which can be difficult to remove.

Wax crayon and Chinagraph can also be used on Gloss and Matt Formica surface finishes, and are best removed with a few drops of methylated spirits on a damp cloth.
